Maria Michta-Coffey took the lead from the start, walking confidently around the track. Blasting out in 51 seconds for the first 200 meters, she settled into a comfortable pace of just under 1:50 per lap. She was never challenged by Mereth Zalba and Natalia Alfonzo who walked together until there was about 6 laps to go. Alfonzo then pulled away steadly building a lead to capture 2nd. Zalba hung on for 3rd whils Katie Michta and Susan Randall battled for fourth and fifth. The two never spearated by more than a few seconds, with Michta ending up on top.
