In the words of Monty Python and now for something completely different. We hope to have a traditional photo story up soon, but as I have shifted to judging, I couldn't take the photos or video. Instead, I had Tim Seaman's athlete Hanna Running operate the cameras. Here are high speed, 240 fps, video of many of the elite walkers.

if you are unfamiliar with elite race walking. The definition states that you must maintain contact with the ground as seen by the human eye. The threshold for visible loss of contact is at least 40 milliseconds or 10 frames with the camera we shot with.

Tucker Brugh (#11, U.S.) has been training diligently to get that chiseled look in his debut 50 km.
Bruce Logan (#16, U.S.) is determined to finish.
Yolanda Holder (#36, U.S.) is relatively new to race walking, but is quite accomplished as a professional ultramarathon endurance walker and holder of various world records.
Molly Josephs (#38, U.S.) is in her debut 50 km and could be a rising star.
Matthew Forgues (#2, U.S.) is an up and-coming star who knows to start race easy and speed up later.
Ian Whatley (#5, U.S.) keeps a sensible pace while Nick Christie, checking the split time, laps him.
Claire Tallent likewise checks her spit as she approaches the end of lap 7 less than an hour into the race.
Race announcer Tracy Sundlun chats with famed Olympian Willie Banks.
Paola Perez (#117, Ecuador) is moving very fluidly less than an hour into race. Teenager Meriah McGranahan (#309, U.S.) tries 10 km event.
Field is well spread out as Tucker Brugh completes another lap.
