As 50Ks goes, this one was shaping up true to form. As the walkers continued, they accelerated with Australia’s Jared Tallent now taking the lead with a 21:28 split. Adams was just off his shoulder, but it was obvious that Tallent looked stronger having sat back for the first half of the race. Still the two looked impressive and started their move, hoping to break the wills of all those trailing. Meanwhile, very quietly Nymark and Garcia started moving up as overly ambitious walkers failed to hold the pace.
