By lap 3, things had shaken up in the men's race. Clausen continued close to the 4:10 pace previously set, but completing 3K in 12:31, while Nunn slowed and hit 3K in 12:46.
The women's race was not without its share of shaking up. Between the 3rd and 4th lap, in a big surprise, Dow dropped out and the women's pack broke up with Vail leading Rohl and Antonia.
