While things were busy upfront, Dave McGovern continued to walk strong in 3rd. Also notable were Jack Starr in route to an age group record and Loretta Schulein.
As the day went on, the sun was beating down and was disceptively hot. While Vail, Rohl and Antonia all had hopes of walking an A standard, too many factors effected their goal. None continued on to 20K. In fact, Antonia was zapped up by aliens and taken to the land of excessively high heart rate and exorbitant lactate, paving the way for Bobbi Jo Chapman to move into third place. Ed Parrot walked strong, but needed a good solid gulp of water. Clausen shows how tough it was.
