Is race walking good for young children?
In the last 40 years, childhood obesity has increased 5-fold for kids age 6-11. Something needs to turn the tides. Race walking makes children feel good: the exercise makes them feel calmer and happier and it improves their concentration, making it easier to focus in school. Getting children walking from a young age is an investment for life, and creates good habits for an active life as an adult. In a UK Department for Transport survey, nine out of ten teachers said their students are much more ready to learn if they've walked to school. Walking reduces stress and increases creativity, both of which will help a child's performance at school.
