As the heat gained strength Nunn cracked and started to fade.

While Stroupe pulled away, he was no longer taking a relaxing walk in the park.

Quitely marching through the field Erin Taylor-Talcott started picking off the men.

The heat starts to hit Whatley.

Meanwhile in the lead was Luis Lopez from Puerto Rico. While leading the race, he can't win the USATF championship, he is a guest.

If Stroupe could hold on he would have his first major (20K/50K) National title.

Mannozzi still looked strong, but was too far back to be a factor.
