Then it happened. About 43 minutes into the race, Melville made her move and broke the heart of the 2nd pack. Like flipping a switch she dropped a gear and steadily pulled away from the pack to establish herself in solid possesion of 3rd place.
Joanne Dow and Jill Cobb just couldn't match the youngster's speed. Forgues also had issues and drifted back into 6th.
Zoyhofski was enjoying just being a part of it all.
Melville started eating up the track with an eye on the lead pack. Could she pull an amazing comeback and challenge the leaders? If there were only one person walking alone, possibly. However, with Michta and Gray working together it seemed unlikely that both would crash or Melville could make up that much ground.
Dow and Cobb continued with their private battle.
Susan continued along as well.
Forgues was really struggling, but continued to press.
