Marco Evoniac summed it all up a few minutes after crossing the finish line, "It's the trials!" The statement was in response to asking why, after decades of competing, he was still racing. Expressing regret after missing the 2004 trials he had an air that he would keep racing trials for decades to come. Evoniac finished an impressive 6th, although a bit slower than his qualified time. When Ray Sharp approached him questioning why they were so slow, Evoniac quite matter-of-factly stated, "cause we are old."

Evoniac had some fairly non-traditional methods for combating the aging process. Blaming the lack of testosterone as we age, he feels we should eat lots of meat and weight train. In fact he indicated he didn't walk much in preparing for the race. Evoniac understates his talent, which is immeasurable.
