For most of the first 30K of the Olympic Trials 50K race walk, it was a pack of two.Philip Dunn, looking for his third Olympic bid, and Matt Boyles the challenger, walked stride for stride. The 50K walk is often one of attrition. Sometimes the lead pack picks the pace up, other times the winner is determined by who slows down the least. Today, Boyles attempted to break away just before 30K and then Dunn answered with a move of his own and pulled away for good.
