Dave McGovern has been an icon of race walking for over twenty years. A competitor, promoter, coach, and author, McGovern has maintained an elite level of race walking for decades. Sadly today the heat and humidity took it out of him. Early in the race, McGovern was pacing to keep in contact with the pack. Then as early morning heat and humidity increased as the sun rose, he started slowing down. Dropping out at 38K didn't seem to faze McGovern thou, he took it all in stride and will regroup for the 20K World Cup Trials.

McGovern looked a little slow from the start, but gave it a valent effort in the heat. |

McGovern didn't have the best of days and called it a day early.
