2006 Penn Relays 10K Men's Race Walk
This year's Penn Relays race walk featured three divisions (Open, Juniors, and Masters) all racing simulatenously. From the gun, two battles emerged almost immediately. The battle of the Matts ensued with Boyles and De Witt jockeying for position. At one point De Witt made a move on Boyles and took the lead shortly. However, Boyles was too strong and retook the lead and never looked back. Boyles looked stronger and stronger as the race went on, clearly showing he is ready to compete at the World Cup in Spain next month.
In addition to the men's open battle, the masters title was quite the race to watch. John Soucheck and Nil Lavelle walked stride for stride for the first half of the race. Eventually, Soucheck pulled away, but never by enough to feel comfortable with his lead. The race remained a battle until the end.
In the junior division, Mike Kazmierczak pretty much took command early and walked solidly to victory.
