Whether you are a beginner or experienced race walker, attending a live clinic is the best way to improve your technique, get motivated, and reach your fitness and/ or competitive goals.
Our highly-polished clinics feature a combination of lecture and hands-on instruction. Lectures include scores of real-world professional photographs and videos demonstrating proper and improper technique. Participants receive individualized critique of their technique while walking, in super-slow motion video, and via multiple annotated photographs. Both the videos and photographs are given to the participants so they can review their areas that need improvement when they return home.
In addition to learning correct technique and identifying individual participant issues, we discuss proper training methodology, nutrition as it relates to race walking, proper shoe selection, warming up, cooling down, preventing and coping with injuries, and a brief discussion on full-body strength training.
If you don’t see a location that works for you, then perhaps you would like to host a Race Walking Revolution clinic? There aren’t many requirements. At a minimum we need a room with enough seating and a screen or white wall as well as a nearby location to walk. In an ideal setting, getting access to a track is best. If that’s not possible, an uncrowded path or even a remote parking lot can work.
We handle all of the finances, bring all or most of the equipment (if you have a projector that helps), and handle the registration.
A clinic can be as few as fifteen adults and as many as 40. If we have more than 20 participants we bring in 2 instructors and if we have more than 30, we bring in 3 instructors. Usually, if you have only 10-12 participants, we can find additional people to join. So if you want to host a Race Walking Revolution clinic, please
"I have been race walking in competition for the past four years and have been disqualified more times than I care to recall. Just could not get the left knee straight for an entire race. After working with Jeff and Tim for a weekend, they got me using good race walking form. Their experience and ability to diagnose the problem was right on. You could not ask for a better team for a race walking seminar." - Sheldon Contract
The race walk clinic put on by Jeff Salvage that was hosted by the Indiana Racewalkers' Club was, in my estimation, the best run clinic I’ve been associated with. The video and still photo technology used was exceptionally helpful. Not only for the person being evaluated but for the entire group as all could see, with constructive criticism, where each individual could improve their form. Jeff is an entertaining clinician making even the seemingly silly drills fun. The clinic was a good balance of on track and classroom instruction.
Former international competitor Jeff Salvage is an award winning educator and nationally recognized coach who combines his instructional expertise with his passion for race walking. Salvage tirelessly promotes race walking as a writer, photographer, and webmaster. Founder of www.racewalk.com, author of nine books on race walking, creator of multiple race walking videos, and the “go to” photographer for America’s best race walkers, Salvage combines his skills as the driving force behind Race Walking Revolution clinics.
Over the past three Olympiads Tim Seaman coached more race walkers to the Olympics than any other coach in the USA. His athletes have broken more USA records than any other coach in the USA. With 47-time national championship titles himself, as well as being a 2-time Olympian, he was the USA’s most dominant race walker for more than a decade. Seaman is an acclaimed college coach at Cuyamaca college, having received honors as Conference Coach of the Year three times. Seaman brings all of this experience to our clinics in an easily understandable manner that appeals to both beginners to advanced walkers.
When we have more than 20 participants we bring in additional instructors. Some have included:
