Race Walking Training

Sleep

Paul Schwartzberg used to say, “If you train hard, you must rest hard.”  I couldn’t agree more.  Sleep represents an essential component of any training program.  Everyone’s needs are different; assess yourself carefully and ensure you get enough sleep. In college, they called me the geek of sleep.  I slept anywhere and anytime I could.  While sleeping, your body rebuilds and recovers from the hard work you put it through.  No one knew this better than two-time Olympian Herm Nelson.  Dubbed The Bear, he possessed a unique ability to hibernate all day before hard workouts.
