2008 50km USA Race Walk - Olympic Trials Photo Story

Ray Sharp was at the top of his game over 20 years ago. Although he amassed many championships, competed on many teams, and achieved much, he never competed on an Olympic team. Sharp started a comeback over the past few years that inspired all. Always competing fiercely, but with a smile and kind word, Sharp was welcomed back into the top of the US race walking world. At the age of 48, Sharp was probably competing in one of his last Olympic Trials were he could be considered a contender. Sharp felt the humidity affected him alot. Still through 20K he was walking comfortably and gaining on the lead pack. Although he didn't qualify for the Olympic Team, he did finish as the first Masters walker and qualified for the World Cup in Russia later this year. Ray was all smiles afterwards stating, "In the end it was the four youngsters in the top four spots, as it should be."
